15th June 2010 - Premier Percussion visits Erne Music Supplies

Today we had a visit from Sven Parris and Karen Whitelam of Premier Percussion. We are delighted to learn that Premier are still in business and developing new marching products and can now supply a new Olympic Series of Marching Drums which are more affordable to School & Youth Bands.
The New 36" Marching Bass Drum which we mentioned on 25th March will be coming in stock soon. We saw this drum at the Frankfurt Music Fair this year and where amazed at the sound and high light it is.
We will be travelling to the Premier Percussion HQ in July.
3rd June 2010 - Muramatsu Flutes Dealership
We can now supply the World Famous Muramatsu flutes which Sir James Galway has used for many years. We are the only supplier within Northern Ireland to supply this flute.
29th May 2010 - 'Flute and Drum' Day in Ardrossan, Scotland
We would like to thank all those who travelled from as far away as Edinburgh to our 'Flute and Drum' Day in Ardrossan. A special thanks to Ardrossan Winton Flute Band who hosted the event and also for providing refreshments. Thanks also to Charlie, John Higgins and Alex Abbott for their input which was most appreciated.
We hope to make this an annual event and have already received an invite to Glasgow.
21st May 2010 - SABIAN Cymbal Development
Erne Music Supplies and SABIAN cymbals are working together to design a New pair of Marching Band Cymbals for Blood and Thunders Flute Bands. Two top flute bands from Northern Ireland have been picked to test prototype cymbals, they are Ballykeel Loyal Sons of Ulster Flute Band and Kilcluney Volunteers Flute Band.

12th March 2010 - Skeleton Drum Evening at Curran Orange Hall, Co. Londonderry

We held our second night in Curran Orange Hall to distribute the second batch of 50 Skeleton Drums to our customers. Philip Morrow originally approached us back in 2008 when orders were placed. We delivered the first batch of skeleton drums in May 2009 and on the 12th March 2010 we distributed the last remaining 50 drums.
We would like to thank our customers who ordered from us and would especially thank Philip Morrow for his work hard and dedication in keeping this tradition of drumming alive in South Londonderry.
26th February 2010 - Northern Ireland Flute Band Association Contest, Island Civic Centre, Lisburn
Erne Music Supplies once again sponsored Melody Plus Grade in the Northern Ireland Flute Band Assciation Contest in Lisburn. The winners of the Melody Plus Grade where Ballycoan Flute Band, and they where presented with a pair of Sabian B8 Marching Cymbals. Erne Music Supplies in conjunction with Konig & Meyer Music Stands from Germany sponsorsed Grade 3 and the winners where Roses Lane Ends Flute band and they where presented with a set of 8 Deluxe Music Stands made by Konig & Meyer.

21st November 2009 - Confederation of Ulster Bands Conference
On Saturday 21st November 2009, we attended the first conference of the Confederation of Ulster Bands in Brownlow House, Lurgan, Co. Armagh. Erne Music Supplies along with Essey Musical and Victor Stewart Enterprises showed off their Musical Instruments and Marching Accessories. In attendance was Nelson McCausland MLA, Minister of Culture, Arts and Tourism and Darren Templeton, editor of the Newsletter. Over 100 representatives from Marching Bands from throughout Northern Ireland and the Border Counties attended.
28th October 2009 - Sole Distributor of MING DRUMS
Erne Music Supplies is now the Sole Distributor of the Carbon Fibre Marching Drum (by Ming Drums) for the United Kingdom & Republic of Ireland.
24th October 2009 - North of Ireland Bands' Association Contest for Flutes & Accordions
We attended the 92nd Annual Championship of Ireland Bands' Contest held in the Market Place Theatre, Armagh.
There was much interest in our Carbon Fibre Marching Drum which is made by Ming Drums in Taiwan. Many bands where impressed and some have already placed orders.

3rd October 2009 - Ballymacarrett Defenders F.B. Contest in Belfast
This year we were invited by the members of Ballymacarrett Defenders F.B. to provide a music stand at their contest in Belfast.
This was an excellent opportunity to show off are flutes and accessories and especially our new Carbon Fibre Marching Drum. Everyone who attended the contest took advanced and played on the drum and all give good reviews. Although, no decisions where made on the day, we believe this drum will be a good seller. Already a few melody flute bands have approached us about ordering.

1st July 2009 - New Mull-Wilk Bb 2 Key Flute
We delivered our first set of the 2 Key Mull-Wilk Bb Flutes to the Newtowanstewart Red Hand Defenders Flute Band from Co. Tyrone. The band approached us in early January 2009 about making a set of Mull-Wilk Bb Flutes with 2 keys.
23rd May 2009 - Skeleton Drum Evening at Curran Orange Hall, Co. Londonderry

It took over 7 months to design and perfect but on Saturday 23rd May we delivery the first 50 of a total of 100 skeleton drums ordered. These drums were originally made in the late 1880s to early 1920s and since where impossible to obtain as no company was producing them, so most of the drums used today are at least 80 years old. These drums where used by flute bands throughout Ireland but where replaced by modern deeper marching drums or high tension drums in the 1950s. Only a few bands still use these Skeleton drums and can be found in South Londonderry, for example Curran Flute Band, Moneymore Flute Band and Ballynenagh Flute Band, Ballinderry Flute Band and St. Patrick's Flute Band, all these bands have purchased new sets of skeleton drums.
9th May 2009 - Scottish Amateur Flute Band Association - Spring Contest, Troon Concert Hall

We travelled over to the above contest held in the Concert Hall in Troon. Eight bands took part including Eastfield & Harthill F.B, Lord Londonderry's Own C.L.B. (Newtownards), Dykehead Amateur F.B., Ballygown F.B., Kilwinning Amateur F.B., Kellswater F.B. (Ballymena), Glasgow Amateur F.B., Carluke Primrose Orchestral Flutes.

1st - Ballygowan Flute Band (also winners of the Piccolo Prize, & Best Overall Band Prize)
2nd - Lord Londonderry's Own C.L.B.
